Glad I Didn't Have To Embroider This Myself!

Close up of the embroidery on the gown.  What looks like tiny sequins are actually very flat faceted Swarovski crystals.  Perfect chain stitches.  So exquisite.

  1. Incredible embroidery. I know what you mean about being glad you didn't have to, but I look at it and wish I had those skills. Beautiful.

  2. It's even more beautiful in person, on really thick silk satin, lined with more silk satin.

  3. I adore embroidery of all kinds. This is stunning. I cannot imagine how much time that would take.

  4. Hi Debbi - I'll bet it took a week, even for a pro. The Silver thread is hard to work with, and all those tiny, even circles must have taken forever. Then adding the rest.
I am a (flower) child of the 60's and remember all that "hippie" embroidered clothes. I loved it then, and I still love it.

  5. Oh my, that is some kind of beautiful. Handwork such as this really speaks to me. I know it was an incredible dress.

  6. Hi Sanda - I love antique handwork, and this is the first piece of modern embroidery I've purchased that comes anywhere close to that perfection. I used to watch Martha Pullen's sewing show just to see her collection of antique clothes.
