TV - Part II

As stated yesterday, everyone who knows me knows I like my TV.  One of the nice things about TV, is that when John and I are in different towns (which happens quite often, given the amount of travel he does for work), there are a few programs that we both like and know we will both be watching.  Rather like what Elizabeth Barrett Browning expounded on in one of her Sonnets From the Portuguese.  Or as Fievel, the mouse in An American Tail, sang about so eloquently in the song, Somewhere, Out There.
So anyway, tonight I turned to NCIS, perhaps the favorite program of our shared viewing list, and there was something political, with the First Lady, who is definitively not Gibbs, on instead.  Oh well, maybe it's just delayed.

  1. Hello, Beryl; thank you so much for becoming my newest follower, I hope you'll continue to enjoy the blog ! I think that watching the same TV program while you're apart is the sweetest thing ; really what solid, intelligent relationships are made of !x

  2. I am so ready for the fall shows to start. We have been watching reruns of The Big Bang Theory for weeks. I miss Gibbs too and I want to find out what happens to Ducky!

  3. Hi SB - I have read you for a while, but it seems a bit greedy to join until your giveaway was done. I didn't want to be motivated by that Keychain, which I have coveted since January when I was in Paris the last time. I plan on getting it the next time I'm in France, which I hope will be this January. And you are right - my husband and I do have a sweet, intelligent relationship.

  4. Hi Debbi - you are always surprising me - like when we were both watching that Simonton Says show (the only show on that channel I watched all week) - watching Big Bang Theory to fill the time until the Fall shows return is just what John and I are doing.
They can't kill off Ducky. That will writing stuff was odd, though. I didn't understand why Kate was killed off, but love Ziva - and love Rizzoli and Isles.
Your Monday outfit was one of my favorites.

  5. We like TV too, but often it is just background noise accompanying my knitting :) I do like a few shows, the big bang theory is a good one. We tend to watch Aussie programmes of course.

  6. Hi Carolyn - I pay more attention to sewing when I have TV in the background. Never thought much about it before. It just helps me concentrate.

  7. The Hubby and I have a few we watch together but we usually even watch those separately. Thank goodness for DVR...he usually doesn't sit down the same time I do. He's a busy little bee!

  8. Hi Carla - I can relate to having a busy husband!

  9. Hi Beryl,
There must be something wrong with me as I don't enjoy TV. We record the network's evening newscast and usually watch that; I'll watch an occasional movie on TBS. Saw a bit of the Rep. convention last week and am seeing some of the Dem convention this week. Some of the programs on PBS also are appealing, the mysteries, Downton Abby, etc., but I seem to often miss them. Maybe I'll try to watch some TV this winter. During nice weather I stay outdoors until nightfall and then I'm too tired to bother!

  10. Hi Sanda - There's absolutely nothing wrong with someone who doesn't enjoy TV. I've always told my children, that in matters of taste, everyone is right, even when you don't agree. The way TV is heading, in 20 years it may all be Reality TV, at which time, I won't enjoy it anymore.
I enjoy Downton Abby, but find that it is made even more fun for me, since so many other people are watching and talking about it. Most of my life, I have been the only one in my neighborhood watching any of the Masterpiece Theatre series, except for my half-Australian friend, Shane.
