Raw Potatoes

Spending tonight at the Embassy Suites in Kansas City, but surprisingly, not in the state of Kansas.  The Internet has not been kind tonight and I am giving up on reading, commenting, or even uploading pictures.  Had a great day with John's boss's girlfriend Pam.  She is a walking ray of sunshine.  You always feel good around her.  We bought shoes, so you know that the good time just got better.  We even met up with her childhood friend, Maggie, who cracked my husband up most of the evening.  Basically just Good Times!
OK, since the Internet hasn't gone out on me yet, I will add my view on Sushi, specifically the raw fish stuff.  If I was really hungry, if it would be a social gaff to refuse, if I had a friend who wouldn't believe my preference and insisted I try it again - I would eat potatoes raw.  But I know they are much better (to my palate) cooked.  That's how I feel eating fish raw.

  1. I think I've only had sushi once and I liked it OK. I was amazed at how beautifully the food was presented and it seemed quite a privilege to be served with such beauty. As to the flavours, I think 'OK' pretty much describes it. I would do it again if the occasion arose and I hope to show Bill this pretty food some time, but I don't think he'll be very enthusiastic about it! It's not part of my usual lifestyle to eat raw fish...except for smoked salmon I gather is technically raw and I love the stuff.

I ate the occasional raw potato slice as a child when really hungry, impatient for Mom to get dinner cooked! I think your analogy is pretty good - raw potato tastes OK, but it's a whole lot better cooked!

  2. Oh we love sushi but only certain ones. You can get veggie rolls and like fried shrimp, not all is raw. Never thought a small town girl from Oklahoma would be eating and loving sushi!

  3. Hi Shelley! It sounds like we are in agreement on both the Sushi and the Potato! It sure is pretty.

  4. Hi Jill - I do think the Sushi in Oklahoma is superior - it's like they don't bother to do it unless they are really good at making it. Glad you love it!

  5. I'm in agreement about smoked salmon...I could eat loads of that. I wish I had a way to get in touch when you take these jaunts to my neck of the woods.

  6. Hi Terri - If I had been by myself, I would have emailed you just in case you were free. But it was a work thing. If you're ever in Tulsa, just shoot me an email. I am still planning your card - June 13th, right?

  7. Hi Beryl, I used to hang out in the kitchen when my mother was peeling potatoes. Love them as a child; no more. I'm with you; want mine cooked now!
