Gee Oklahoma, I expected better of you. You call this a slug?? In Seattle all our slugs were the size of Ball Park Franks as babies and just grew bigger with age. (Might have been all the beer we fed them, believing that old Wives Tale about them getting so drunk that they painlessly drown in it.) No wonder the Bermuda Grass is taking over.
That IS a small slug. Mine are bigger than this one, too. I have fed beer to slugs as well. It seems to work. I got a picture of an interesting red bug this morning. I'll share it on my blog soon. Would do so here, but don't think that is possible in this comment block.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I would run screaming from a slug the size of a ballpark frank!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, that is a baby compared to what one finds in a damper climate. I can't say we have ballpark frank sized ones, but definitely getting on for an inch wide and several long...nasty things that make veggie leaves into lace. I don't want my slimy pests to die drunk - I put out pellets and if I find them I put them into a pot with salt. Cruel, I know.
ReplyDeleteHi Sanda - I wonder if you can put photos in comments? That's a new challenge - to figure out some more about this Blogger business. But seriously, your blog is so beautiful most of the time, that throwing a bug in every once in a while should be stimulating.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri - I can't imaging your running screaming from anything! Didn't you live in Montana, home of the rugged?
ReplyDeleteHi Shelley - you know, every single Oklahoman I know told me the same thing. I am getting pretty attached to my flowers and could see seeking revenge on a hungry slug.
