The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
John and I went and saw the movie, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel this weekend. It was really fun. But it got me to thinking - those British women really know how to do older women's hair. If you are over 55, it can't be too long, or you know that she is bad - as in the horrible wife, Jean, played by Penelope Wilton. (Penelope was much nicer when she had shorter hair in Shaun of the Dead - one of the truely great horror movies of all time.) But in Marigold Hotel, she had longish hair and was truely, heavy-handedly awful. I kept waiting for them to have her hurt a puppy. (Spoiler Alert!! The character of Jean Ainslie does not harm any animals in this film.) But my point, and I do have one, is that I am once again on the hunt for someone in the Tulsa area who can give a good haircut to a woman over 55 with curly hair, who would rather not be perceived as bad! Wish me luck!

Good luck! My mane is getting overly long...though I wear it back all the time in the summer. May get a shoulder-length cut before my semester begins.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri - Long hair is just so much easier for me. And my husband prefers it. He says it's how he finds me in a crowd.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I am in the middle of growing mine out again. I feel so, well, "FAT" when mine is short.
ReplyDeleteGetting my cut a few days ago has been so liberating in this heat!
ReplyDeleteI have had problem finding good hairdressers. My experience is you start a new one and they try really hard to do what you want but after about two visits they ignore what you tell them you want. Good luck finding one wo will please you. I agree with Jill of All Trades; I feel fat with short hair!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla - I feel very fat headed without bangs! Good luck growing it out!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy - Do you mean that I won't be as hot if I get shorter hair? See you at Supercuts!
ReplyDeleteHi Sanda - Thanks! I'm glad I'm not alone in this quest for the right stylist. As curly as my hair is, it's just easier and cheaper to let it grow indefinitely. But if I do get it cut, I should blow it straight once in a while. I look like a totally different person with straight hair.
