Cowboy Church And Couch
Sunday drive took us by the Cowboy Church. Did not see even a single cowboy, coming or going. Look what we saw along the way. Would you call it a Couch? A Sofa? A Divan? A Davenport? Or a throne for a deposed ruler (and his family) pitched out on the country road. I love it - it has real Presence. I wish I had known it before it became homeless. Did anyone see the Big Bang Theory episode where Penny brings home a Stuffed Chair she finds on the sidewalk?

That old couch certainly does have some presence. In fact, it could be an art installation! I have to ask - what makes a Church a Cowboy Church??
ReplyDeleteWell Patricia, that is a good question. I plan on asking the group of Oklahomans in the pool this morning. So I'll get back to you after water aerobics!
ReplyDeleteI Googled it and found out what it is. You might want to as well. And, by the way, there's a Cowboy Church about 15 miles from where I live.
ReplyDeleteFor a while, there was a sofa like this sitting on a bluff along I-435 here in the KC area and just like this one, it captured my imagination. How did it get there? Who sat in it? And why did they haul it up to the top of the bluffs?
ReplyDeleteCowboy church? That's a denomination I've not met yet. Yes, the couch looks like it might have been lovely and comfy at one time. I'd not like to think about what critters and/or organisms now inhabit it, though. Perhaps the occasional feral cat or coyote has a good night's sleep? Sorry I've not commented much. Am writing from France and haven't had much internet time. Will be home in a week or so and hope to catch up with all your adventures then.
ReplyDeleteHi Sanda- Good suggestion. I asked the others in the pool at the Y and got the funniest answers. But what they all agreed was that getting to church was a good idea whether you drove there or rode your horse.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri - I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who thinks like that. I actually thought about leaving the picture up permanently, but changed my mind.
ReplyDeleteHi Shelley - Thought you might be travelling again. Hope you're having a good time in France. I'm still suffering from Pastry Withdrawal from my last trip there.
