Salsa And Façonnable Laundry

People keep giving me wonderful ripe tomatoes.  Add those to all the ones I have grown, and I had to think of something special to do to preserve them.  I decided to combine them with some free peppers and some purchased ones - Poblanos (my favorite pepper) and Jalapeños, onions, vinegar, and salt.  Boil 10 minutes and pour in jars.  Boil those jars for 15 minutes.  (3 cups chopped tomatoes, 3 cups chopped peppers, 1 cup chopped onions, 1 cup cider vinegar, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt.)
And continuing to point out the wonderful bargains that can be had at Goodwill stores, here's another brand that they don't recognize- Façonnable.  I didn't even remember until I grabbed up my whites to do a load of laundry and felt the silky cotton they use for their interesting variations on classic lines.  (These were bought in the By-The-Pound Goodwill, so were less than 35 cents each.)

  1. Oh, there's nothing like homemade salsa. Lucky you! Enjoy. Haven't made it to Goodwill yet. On my list. I'm not familiar with that label you feature, but must be a nice one.

  3. Hi Sanda - The flavor is quite nice, but I fear I have actually made Mexican Soup. After draining it, it did make good salsa. The fabric in those shirts is so silky and soft, but it's all cotton. And they are so well made. Really luck finds!

  4. Hi Terri! It was so easy to can. Next time I will take the seeds out of the tomatoes and it will not be as thin, which should be better. But the flavor is great even after cooking and canning.

  5. Oh, Beryl. You have no idea how much I envy you those home grown tomatoes! I grew some in SLC from the first I moved there and I ate come of them off the plant like some people eat apples. Then when the supply got really large (the stuff of my dreams!) I made home canned spaghetti sauce using the Tightwad Gazette recipe. I save those for Friday or Saturday night to make chilli, spaghetti or pizza - the sauce made a really special meal. I've not heard of the French brand either, but I imagine the shirts are wonderful. I had no idea Goodwill was so wonderful in Oklahoma. Must visit one next time I'm home.
