Not Your Typical July Day

Peaches that my friend, Jane, from Mah Jong brought back from Porter - the Oklahoma Peach Capitol.

And then there was One.  (Right after taking this picture, I gave in to temptation!)

The rest of the day was not typical.  Flush from the success of polishing my Silver Beehive Tea Set and having it remain shiny for months in this dry, dry climate of Oklahoma, I drug out all the silver jewelry I owned, both super cheap and fairly pricey (for me, that is) (it is Silver, after all - which at the best is still not too expensive) - and polished away.  I had picked up a few new $1 pairs of earring at the Goodwill, which now look like $40 earrings.  (Note to self - Need to mail these off as gifts.  People will be impressed.)
Then my friend Carol came by on her way to the Chiropractor and picked me up.  She dropped me at one of her favorite stores (Belts, on 51st) with the most interesting shoe selection.  The three pairs of shoes were each less than $18 - and they are good brands.  The Andre Assous would have been over $100 in Canvas, and this was a leather pair - named: Beryl.  (Really, a shoe style with my name, in my size in a fabulous brand!)  This was another of those oddly creepy places which I have had friends show me, that I would never have found on my own.  Is Tulsa the only place with these establishment?  I have never found anything like them before.  Like a Goodwill, with all new stuff.  Good Times!

  2. Your friend with the excellent peaches is TDF. She's totally fab. She deserves lots of kisses and hugs.

And so does this other friend!! "Belts," you say. Must venture into creepy land. Thank you, Beryl's friend.

And you rock the silver hoard. Silver--it's always chic, even when a touch tarnished.

  3. What a nice collection of silver jewelry you have! I, too, love finding things in out-of-the-way places. Nice looking shoes. A very successful day for you, it would appear.

  4. Hi Carla - Even if you're not a shoe person, less than $18 for a pair of Munro shoes is too good to pass up.

  5. Hi Catherine! You have look beautiful with such long hair - I can't believe how fast it grows. We need to get together for Peach Cobbler this summer. Thanks for the compliment on my silver. You have one of the best silver necklaces ever - it's the one you wear wrapped. Love it!

  6. Hi Sanda- The neat thing is what good brands this place carried. Now that you have retired, you can spend more time looking in these out-of-the-way stores. A lot of my silver jewelry came from a store chain called Cost Plus, which has no stores in Oklahoma. Pier 1 isn't as good for stuff I like, so I'll .keep looking

  8. Hi Terri - Very good plan if you wear an unusual size. This place had lots of Munro in not just slim, but also super slim. And some wides, too.
