Afternoon snack - Chicken & Waffles Lays Potato Chips. (Or Potatoe Chips, as former VP Dan Quayle would spell it.). Whenever I went to Canada I would check out the foods shops - teas and chocolate and jams and crisps. The flavors used for chips (crisps in the Queen's English) were often quite foreign. Steak and Ale was a favorite. Well, here we are in the US, having run out of any reasonable flavor choice, taking a clue from the British. They aren't horrible, but the aftertaste of Maple Syrup is very odd.
Computer is still unhappy, so I am trying to learn to post from my phone. Printer has joined in on the strike. Now if I could only get my email.
Huh? Who eats chicken and waffles together anyway? This is a very odd flavor combination. Like you, don't believe I'd want an aftertaste of maple syrup with my potato chips!
ReplyDeleteI have to buy a bag!
ReplyDeleteSo funny, chicken and waffles??? It's enough to make you give up chips! Seems your computer has possibly been secretly talking to mine, and set up a joint action to make life difficult. Meanwhile your printer and my dishwasher are clearly in league as well. Gee I hate electronic stuff!!
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe waffles referred to the wavy texture. Can't cope with the idea of chicken and syrup! The flavours of crisps here are pretty amazing, though I tend to stick with 'salt and vinegar'. I never understood why they had vinegar on the tables at Long John Silvers...and I thought the 'chips' were the little crispy bits of batter. Boy, did I have loads to learn when I came across!
ReplyDeleteThere is a well know restaurant here that has built their reputation on chicken and waffles. I had to try it of course. Interesting, not as weird as it sounds but I don't foresee another visit. I don't like flavored chips of any kind, too many odd ingredients. If the bag says it contains more than potato, salt and some kind of oil I skip it.

Hi Sanda - I just ate one and left the rest. Which, considering how bad a snack potato chips are for me, was a good thing.
ReplyDeleteHi Yogi - Once you try them, you're supposed to vote whether or not you want them to keep that flavor.
ReplyDeleteHi Patricia - Your dishwasher is acting up? That's rotten luck. I can live without a printer at home, but washing all my dishes by hand is where I draw the line.
ReplyDeleteThe hardest one to remember is that a Biscuit is actually a Cookie in England.
ReplyDeleteI love the taste of Vinegar with Potatoes. Try sprinkling good red wine vinegar on Potato Soup.
Hi Darla - Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles is a very famous restaurant. My oldest son loves it.
ReplyDeleteAdd Vinegar to the list of acceptable Potato Chip ingredients, and I'm with you.
PS: If you ever need a walking partner, my daughter in Berkeley would love to meet you.
Not sure I want to try chicken & waffle flavour although we do have some very weird flavoured crisps over here - in the 1980's I remember hedgehog flavour!
ReplyDeleteHi Jay - Hedgehog flavor? Sound a bit Harry Potterlike - Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, now as Crisps.
