Gingerbread Loaf Time! And A Little Baking

The Gingerbread Loaf has arrived at Starbucks!!  Happy Christmas!
Zach's best friend Lewis has a girlfriend whose birthday was Wednesday, so I made the cake she wanted and took it to Quiz Night at the Pub.  It was an over-the-top Reese Peanut Butter Cup Cake consisting of two layers of Peanut Butter Blondie and one layer of a Dark Chocolate Cheesecake, (an actual Cheesecake without the crust - you have to freeze it to keep it from falling apart when you frost it), filled with a Dark Chocolate Ganache,
and frosted all over with Peanut Butter Frosting.
Then the sides are covered with a mixture of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and Peanut Butter Chips.
And it's topped with Peanut Butter Cups, either whole ones cut into eighths, or these darling Mini ones.

Final verdict - too intense and too much work.  Don't care how much every one liked it!  But if you are interested, Reese's Overload Cake recipe.

  1. Oh dear, I love Peanut Butter cakes sooooo much, and for one brief, crazy, moment I thought I would make this cake. But sanity has prevailed - I know I would eat the Entire Cake if it found its way into our house! I bet it was fun to make.
Must look into the gingerbread option at Starbucks - yum!

    1. Hi Patricia - I am a fan of Peanut Butter in so many things - even that sauce on Thai food. I forgot to mention that I used half brown sugar in the Peanut Butter layers, since it just naturally goes together.
Are you really going to France next year?

  2. Oh, you know, my tummy doesn't cope well with enormous amounts of sugar! It looks lovely, but I think I might stop at a single finger swipe of the frosting!

    1. Hi Shelley - The frosting was the best part. I was so happy that the birthday girl took the rest of the cake home. I was done after half a slice.

  3. Hi, Beryl ! I'm catching up on blogs and would believe I stopped dead in my tracks after this post ... I have a phobia of a certain animal and don't want to get any further ! I don't hold a grudge though and I'm putting you on my sidebar; should have been done a long time ago ! Meilleur souvenir de Paris !

  4. Wow that is entirely impressive Beryl!!! Did you find you got more questions correct after just one bite of that beautiful creamy goodness? I'm sure you're now the reigning pub quiz Queen. I am always that person who only remembers the obscure celeb questions

    1. Hi Jody - We were actually in 4th place, which is very low for us. There is a dark-eyes Venezuelan who comes often and can talk the birthday girl (not his girlfriend) into changing our answers to what ever he says. I said "Melrose Place" to the question of what long running show had Courtney Thorne-Smith and Lisa Rena in it. He said "90210" and it was on a round we had doubled. With that answer alone, we would have been in 2nd - the prize zone. But he is a nice guy and doesn't undertip, my two requirements for a team member.

  5. Oh heavens! I like peanut butter stuff but would rather you bake it and I eat it. The cake sounds like a lot of work. I do have a peanut butter pie recipe I make once every two or three years though.

    1. Hi Darla - I love peanut butter in cooking, but have never made a peanut butter pie. I should try that next time. How about I do the cooking and you be the artist? I love your stuff!
