Just Try Googling "How Not To Cry At Your Son's Wedding" - You Don't Actually Get Useful Advice

Anyone who know me well, knows that I celebrate all of my children's milestones, large or small, with a bit of a cry.  I think this has always made Nick just slightly uncomfortable, so I was determined not to do it at the wedding.  First you have to discard most of the advice that a Google search for "How Not To Cry At Your Son's Wedding" comes up with.  Biting your tongue (literally) might keep the tears away, but results in a most unpleasant facial expression for the pictures.  I settled for looking up and occasionally blinking.  This worked pretty well until Kelsey's brother (who officiated) said that "Kelsey is my heart".  So sweet and now I am tearing up all over again.  I'll have to wait to write about my dress.

  1. Dear Beryl, what a nice surprise to see your post, and what a delightful wedding photo. I'm sure you had the most splendid time at the wedding, and a few tears are of course, obligatory! Looking forward to seeing/hearing more about it.

    1. Hi Simone - Please tell me you are entering an interpretive dance explanation of your dissertation. I bet if Eric assisted with his delightfully dry humor, you'd win that $1000 for sure.

    1. Hi Sanda - This was absolutely the most hectic Summer I can remember. And all of it fun! I had no work to do for Nick's wedding other than finding a dress. We travelled so much that being in Tulsa until the end of October sounds like a treat to us!

    1. Hi Jay - I didn't take any pictures at all, but there were a few people who lent me theirs. I knew if I started sniffling, it would be all over.

    1. Thanks, Silver Bunny! Or should I call you Fresh Bunny? My daughter is in Lyon for the Summer and has had quite a bit of rain. Hope you're having better weather. I think just "Bunny" would do nicely.

  6. I don't understand people who don't get emotional at weddings. They are a very happy occasion - or perhaps sometimes not. I'm impressed you didn't blubber, I'm sure I would have. Looking forward to more photos!

    1. Hi Shelley - Luckily the wedding was quite small and upbeat. Her brother was making jokes and being quite funny, teasing, as brothers will do with their younger sister. Still a real test for me to remain composed - but when he said that she was his heart, even he could barely keep it together. Now for their next big adventure - what ever that is!

  7. The bride and groom are a handsome couple. I'd have been crying. I'd just carry a fancy hanky and not wear mascara. And cry.

  8. Hey I tear up at weddings, funerals, and some movies. And I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan and they have made me cry a lot for over 20 years now.
