John Brought Back Fresh Tim Tams And The Stroopwafels Have Arrived - Which To Attack First?

While it was really hard to have John in Australia for a whole month, finding these Tim Tam Biscuits (Carolyn was so correct that these are not cookies!) on the table almost made up for it.  And those once a year treats, the best cookies ever, the Stroopwafels made by the Dutch Brothers Bakery in Montana that one of John's customers send him for Christmas arrived this afternoon.  I've purchased cookies that look the same from Aldi's and everyone raves about them, but that's because they haven't tried the Dutch Brothers.  And I'm not sharing!

  1. I for one like the sound of the Stroopwafels! Good to see you have also found the great Australian secret of Tim Tams, the happy chocolate treat which must be present at all celebratory occasions, also when ill, sad or lonely, or meeting girlfriends - actually, just about anything - he he. Some people insert Tim Tams into strong liquor, use the biscuit as a straw and draw the alcohol up through the chocolatty goodness as a party trick. But I would not do that!!

    1. Hi Patricia - I would never have thought of using a Tim Tam as a straw. But I have seen people stick a candy cane in a lemon and suck out the lemon juice, making a sort of minty lemonade. Thanks for the tip about Vegemite Broth. I don't know how, but to me it has the flavor of a roast beef sandwich, bread and all, without the calories. (I know, I describe the taste different every time.) Very soothing.

  2. I've never had the pleasure of eating either but both sound interesting and I love trying new foods. I wonder if Tim Tams are available in the US.

    1. Hi Sanda - My daughter thinks Target plans on selling them for Christmas. She's the one who spotted the Mini-Panettones, so it's worth checking.

    1. Hi Bella - When you set one on top of your cup, the heat softens it up and makes it so delicious. And I agree that they are addictive - I can eat all two dozen of them in a day or so.

    1. Hi Darla - Truth is I always think I will share - nothing is more delightful than introducing someone else to something you love - but they seem to disappear faster than cash in a coat pocket.

  5. I've never heard of Stroopwafels - they sound wonderful, well more like lethal, but a wonderful way to go!

    1. Hi Shelley - Luckily they sit lightly in the stomach, so you don't feel like you've over-indulged. And then you look and see that they're all gone. Are you in Oklahoma? Been a while since you've written which usually means you're busy elsewhere.

    1. Hi FF - What's that expression you use? Tim Tams are "the business"! He brought back some of the Turkish Delight ones - divine! (And three big jars of Vegemite - what a fabulous man - I am so lucky!)
