Back In Oklahoma

Left Sacramento yesterday morning and just got back to Tulsa.  I forget what a long ride it is, but when you are driving through heat over 110 degrees, there's no desire to stop and waste time.  Which actually makes it faster.  So two full days instead of three almost full ones.  Went by one of my favorite sites - "the biggest cross in the Northern Hemisphere" in Northern Texas this morning.  Why does Texas have Picnic Areas?  They have signs just like the Rest Areas, and you think there will be bathrooms, but there aren't.  Just Picnic Tables.  Do Texans wonder why the other states wreck a perfectly good "picnic area" by adding bathrooms?  I've tried to ask about it, but it doesn't seem to be polite conversation.

  1. Thanks, Carla - But it looks like I missed some really pleasant Spring weather!

  2. The availability of pleasant public toilets is quite variable here in Britain as well as in the States. I always thought of loads of parks and public loos as being one of the side benefits of Utah's Mormon culture encouraging large families...great for us all!

Someone in Texas has obviously decided this is not a priority for public spending. I think it's a bad choice as it potentially pushes down tourism. But maybe I think that way because I want to go these days about every 5 minutes...

  3. Beryl, we're having those kind of temperatures today. OY! It's just a stay inside kind of day and work on projects! Thanks for the input on my blog. You're absolutely right, it's just not working. I got an iPad and found a really cool app and thought, "This is exactly what I'm trying to do with my blog" and wanted to see how it would translate. You're sweet to compliment my blog...I really don't think it's the highest quality and to be honest, it's so neglected right now. I think I'm just looking for something to motivate me about it....you know? Anyway, glad you're back home safe and sound!! Try to stay cool! Big hugs to you my friend!! ~Serene

  4. Oh Shelley, I know what you mean about being on the lookout for bathrooms so often these days. Maybe I should limit the tea? Utah parks make me think of the amazing National Parks - Bryce and Zion, etc. Pretty place!

  5. Hi Serene - I took your advice about staying inside and spent the afternoon at the Goodwill. Turns out it was 25% off day. Good Times!
I really wanted to like the new blog look. I'm glad you agree with me. You could always do your one outfit, 20 different pairs of shoes post if you need some motivation. It was terrific fun!
