Is Wyoming A Native Word For The Middle Of Nowhere, But Still Somehow Amazing?

And on another subject, am I the only person left who feels compelled to count the cars on a train and feels cheated when there are less than 100?

  1. You got out just in time, heat is unbearable today!

  2. Hi Simone - Sorry you are stuck in such heat, but I have such a good time in Oklahoma that I would have hated to leave and find out that the weather was still nice. At least it should be good for growing peanuts.

  3. Last time we were in Wyoming (2010) we saw grown men fighting in the parking lot of a restaurant in Cheyanne!

On another note, I had girlfriends over tonight in Tulsa for cocktails on the porch. It was hot. Even with the ceiling fan. We finished our drinks in the living room, where there was air conditioning!

    1. Well a fight would be one way to make it interesting, but what a way to wreck the peace and tranquility of the landscape. If anyone were to ask me what the one most strikingly different thing I have come upon living in Tulsa, it would be how hot it stays hours after it's gotten dark. Cocktails are a great antidote to the heat, so good planning on your part. But i suspect that a cocktail or two might have played a part in the parking lot fiasco.

  4. In spite of living next door to Wyoming (Utah) for four years, I didn't visit there much...that's what happens when you spend all your time working.

    1. I don't know how I ever had time for work! You do miss out on so much. Utah is an incredibly beautiful state that I would chose to explore it first. And four years would not be enough time, so I understand not doing much of Wyoming.

    1. If you like the Longmire TV series, you will be crazy about the books. They are fabulous. I should send them to you after I finish them. (Sometime in the Fall.) Wouldn't your cute little Southern self look fabulous in jeans and cowboy boots on that Wyoming high dessert?

  6. The sky is so pretty but the landscape a little flat for my taste. No, I've never counted the cars on a train but now the idea is planted in my head.

    1. I am amazed at how flat so much of the US is. It's the best way for farmland. On a long car trip, counting those train cars if pretty soothing - especially if you are waiting at the crossing for them to go by.

  7. I don't count train cars but memorize license plate numbers of cars in front of me. We all have our tics!! Been through Wyoming once and I can understand why you counted train cars!

    1. I'm impressed with your memorizing the license plates. Car trips trips could be made fun in the days before electronic entertainment. But I must admit to doing some reading on my Nook on the way across Wyoming. (Newest Carl Hiassen.)

    1. Don't know about Australia, but the US landscape is just so varied. I've just started exploring parts East of the Continental Divide in the last few years. I love using the word "few", since I don't have to stop and count how many years as long as it's more than two, and but still not what I would consider a large number.

  9. How funny - we are headed out there in two weeks, the hilly part of it, couple of hours from jackson. Hang on - am I in the right state here?

    1. Are you going to a Dude Ranch? That's all I can think of after ski season is over. Have fun no matter where you end up.
