Tim Tam Cookies

Anyone who knows me knows that I regret ever having that first Krispy Creme Donut. Now the sight of a lit-up Fresh Hot sign at the Krispy Creme store causes my car to veer into the parking lot  and run into the store. But while the only logical way to buy donuts is in a dozen, these Australian wonders, the Tim Tam Cookie, come in a much more reasonable one serving size - of course that one serving has about 60,000 calories.  And yes, that is an empty bag!

      Hi Sanda - Don't worry - I have already had nine, and am making my way to the Woolworth's to pick up another flavor while they are still on sale. The Woolworth's here are just like a big grocery store - no soda fountain.

    Email from my mother - whose personal trainer has been working pretty hard - about the first Krispy Creme store in suburban Sacramento:
    That comment about Krispy Kremes reminded me of the time we were shopping at Sunrise Center and the smell caught our attention as we came out of a store. We followed our noses to a Krispy Kreme store that neither of us knew was there. You must have been the length of three football fields when you first said,"I smell Krispy Kremes." Those cookies look
    Ike a good substitute. I was happy to see your blog from Australia. Maybe someday I will learn how to blog. Maybe not. The most interesting thing in my life is that I buttoned and zipped a pair of size 10 Gloria Vanderbilts. I leave the house only in size 12's, but I am on my way. Love, Maman

    Ah, Beryl, you have fallen for our national treasure, the Tim Tam ... and Good for You!! Tim Tams have amazing therapeutic value, and are used constantly for the relief of tiredness, melancholy, heartbreak, boredom, and just about any other thing a girl could come up with :) Also frequently seen at sewing circles, support groups, family celebrations, business meetings ......

    I haven't ever had a Krispy Creme and so shall take this as a warning not to go there. I believe Tim Tams are one of those quintessentially Australian things. I've brought them back for the folks at work a couple of times after visiting sister-in-law in Sydney. I love caramel, so of course I enjoyed these cookies.

    My roommates in college taught me the Tim tam slam! I don't know if its authentic Australian but worth a try.
