Pelulo = Beryl

Went to Dole Pineapple Plantation, but since you've all seen pineapples courtesy of Hawaii Five-O, either the vintage version or the current one, I'll show you the bracelet I got with my name in Hawaiian carved in it.

  1. Beryl, I'm so impressed that they know a Hawaiian word for your name. I would have thought Beryl a fairly unusual name; even finding Shelley spelled correctly is pretty hit and miss. Have you encountered many other Beryls? (And thanks again for your kind words on my blog).

  2. I rarely find a female Beryl outside of England, and even then they are usually 20 years older than I am. My mother wanted to name all of her girls with names that didn't have nicknames, so we are always delighted to find some variant to call ourselves. One of my cousins used to call me something different every time she wrote to me, but has settled for eBe, or Beigh.
