Just When You Compliment Her On Her Comedy, Meryl Streep Does Oklahoma Drama

Anyone who knows me knows that I don't think I look like Meryl Streep.  But I am always relieved to get back to Oklahoma, where no stranger ever asks me if I am her.  When I am in Southern California, a couple of times a week, I have to tell someone that the real Meryl Streep would have a much better trainer and dermatologist.  So what is all over the Tulsa World paper tonight?  A new movie being filmed in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, called August: Osage County, produced by George Clooney, staring Julia Roberts, Juliette Lewis, Sam Shepard, and (you guessed it) Meryl Streep.  Rats!

  1. Aha! I knew you looked like someone - just could not put my finger on who. Wouldn't it be funny if you ran into the real Meryl while she is in the area :))

  2. Well, I shall look forward to seeing that! wouldn't have mistaken you for Meryl, but I can see the similarity in your fair colouring. In my 30s, people used to tell me I looked like Shelley Long. At first I thought it was just because we shared the same name, but then someone remarked when they didn't know my name. We had very similar hair style and colouring. I never watched Cheers that much, but I took it as a compliment back then. Not sure I would now. I wouldn't mind passing for Meryl!

  3. I think maybe you should have some fun with this. Behave outrageously in public and see if it makes the tabloids! If it does, you can hold a dramatic "I am not Meryl" press conference in which you clear up the confusion once and for all. If it doesn't.... well, you'll have had a good time misbehaving, anyway.

  4. Hi Patricia - Do people ever mistake you for someone else? I like your idea of hanging around for a close up look at her - maybe in person there is more of a resemblance than I can see in pictures.

  5. Hi Shelley - I can see some of Shelley Long in your picture. Funny about the matching name. No one who has ever stopped me has known my name, and it is still one letter off. I never watched much Cheers either. Just never thought it was very funny.
