Happy News

Here's some of the nicest news ever - my son Nick and his girlfriend Kelsey (the lovely, gorgeous, and tall woman on his right side) are engaged.  As his sister Amanda (the less tall but also lovely and gorgeous woman on his left side) said when she heard, we are pretty excited.  But we are going to be in wedding pictures with not just his amazing fiancée, but her equally beautiful mother - yikes!  Since the wedding planning is going to take at least a year, I have just that much time to get 8 inches taller (or just 4 inches taller and wear 4 inch heels - although it is probably poor form for the mother of the groom to disrupt the wedding with a broken ankle).  Good Times!

  1. Good times indeed, Beryl, and congratulations to the happy couple. What better place to become engaged than Paris! Good luck with the 8 inches - I'm sure you'll get there :)

  3. How very exciting! No sense comparing yourself in that way. She probably envies you your lovely hair or fabulous skin. It's not like the mothers should be in competition or anything. Or am I too completely out of it and that is the way of the world these days? I gather than this day is more about the mother of the bride than of the groom - your day will come when the lovely lady on his left walks down the aisle. Alternatively, can I suggest a tall hat on top of a tall hairstyle?

    1. Hi Shelley - You cracked me up - all I can think of is Dolly Parton's hairstyle under an Abraham Lincoln hat. (And Kelsey's mother is so nice that I can't see her envying anyone.) (But the woman is literally 6 feet tall and fabulous!)

  5. When our son got married, I wore beige to try to fade into the background and not overshadow the mother of the bride. But dang, she showed up in beige as well! Congratulations to the happy couple.

  6. How funny, I just answered your comment on my blog saying that we should introduce your son who looks like Martin Fourcade to my daughter.. Is he the one who just got engaged, then ? xx

    1. Hi SB - Yes, he's the one. And he isn't just great looking, he is also a lawyer and attended college on a Basketball scholarship.
But I have another son who appreciates all things French - (after just a week in Paris he was ordering all his meals in French) - if your gorgeous daughter is ever in Southern California.

    1. Hi Jody - I give my husband credit for almost all of our children's good qualities. He is a great Dad! I have already started practicing walking around in my highest shoes, a pair of Mizrahi's that a single girlfriend bought me for a special birthday.

  8. Wonderful news, exciting times. Keep walking in those shoes, you have a year to conquer them.

    1. Hi Darla - Thanks! I keep working on my high heel's walking, but it would be so much easier if I just had an Alice In Wonderland pill and could grow taller.
