$2000 Phone Bill Email Scam

When I wasn't taken in by those scam emails telling me that my cell phone bill was over $1000, those pests decided that I would be more likely to click on their link and give them enough personal information to steal my identity, if they told me my phone bill was now over $2000.  Really?  You dumb crooks, really?

  1. I haven't come across this scam, but the scammers from ""Windows" keep ringing me to say there is a problem with my computer. Only fixable by allowing them to access your life and finances, of course. Thinking of doing what my neighbour did - he told them he doesn't own a computer (actually has 5 in the house!).

  2. Hi Patricia - Sounds like when I told the carpet cleaning callers that I had all Hardwood floors (I didn't) and so they stopped calling.

  3. Ugh, these tedious emails. These crooks even carpetbomb my workplace with "your mailbox is full" emails. Like we don't KNOW the names of our IT staff? Like we don't know what Network Services emails SHOULD look like, since we get them all the time? I guess they're gambling that they'll get one new or inexperienced user. Evil!

  4. Hi Anne - Workplace problem, too? I had no idea. Like I've said before, there needs to be more punishment for these crimes. But the temptation of getting that one naive person, without much worry of retribution is going to keep this happening.
