Monday In Kansas City

Great time in Kansas City today.  Had an interesting lunch at the Smokehouse - pulled pork and sweet potato fries - the only type of fries I eat.  Not that I don't enjoy the Cajun Garlic Cheese fries at Disneyland in the French Quarter, but I'm pretty sure the taste isn't worth how bad I think they are for me.  Found something I had never heard of before - Cheesy Corn.  It's as if Mac and Cheese decided to masquerade as a vegetable.  Think this will go in the same category as French Fries.
Had a bit of fun with the clothes today and wore something totally unlike my usual.  This top is from Chico's - by way of my daughter's savvy shopping at the Goodwill by the pound store.  As light as it is, it cost about 25 cents - seriously!  It ties at the low hip and it very flattering.  She know what I should wear, even if I don't.  And the Cost Plus necklace was irresistible.  I stopped there to pick up a few things for my friend Jane, who agrees that Tulsa needs a Trader Joe's and Cost Plus, badly.  Nothing earth shaking - but Good Times!

  1. It looks as though you found some excellent barbecue before I offered. I so regret all the crossed signals today and the rain check is a serious offer...when the All Star Game is not in town. DH is excited to meet the two of you.

  2. Sounds like fun! We went to the BBQ place in the mall, so it probably isn't anything special. I have trouble believing they put the really great places next door to the Michael's Arts and Crafts Store.

  4. Hi Beryl
Dressing out of the ordinary looks really great on you! Amazing price for a lovely blouse. I have never heard of cheesy corn. Did you like it?

  5. Thanks, Patricia! Do you have Cost Plus World Market stores there? Some of my favorite jewelry has come from there. And it's the best place at Christmas - treats from all over the world. I especially love the Marzipan Pigs.

  6. Thanks Sanda! It takes a lot of dedication to go through the bins at the Goodwill Outlets, and not all towns have them. I am so lucky my daughter has such a good eye!
As far as Cheesy Corn goes, it's like the Nachos they sell at the movies - I love the taste, but know they aren't very good for me. I love my corn fresh on the cob, no butter or salt. (Maybe pepper, occassionally.)

  7. Hi Beryl,
No Cost Plus World Market stores here, more's the pity! I love the
discount stores in Canada and the US!

  8. Hi Patricia - Next time you're in Texas, you'll have to check them out!
Yesterday, on one of those home renovation shows, they had a tiny Red Cardinal get into a room and perch on the window sill. The host actually managed to calm it down and pick it up and take it outside to let it fly away. It was amazing. They are such beautiful birds!
