What Do You Jog In? Hint - This Is Not About Bras
I have had a few odd experiences in the exercise room of our apartment complex. (Learning that taxidermy is a craft from the woman on the next treadmill having already been reported on this blog.) Now I want to report a new surprise - some women jog in Crocs! Yes, Crocs - those holy grail of ugly shoes that weigh less than a marshmallow. If I hadn't left mine in Southern California, I would try it and report back, but there is no way I am buying another pair. The only reason I even own a pair is because of a trip to Las Vegas with a so called pair of comfort shoes that gave me terrible blisters. (Shoes behave differently in cool, wet Seattle and hot, dry Las Vegas.) I hobbled into REI to get some blister relief items and found it cheaper to buy these brown Crocs than their fancy blister bandages. And the reason they are left in Southern California is that I walk my son's dogs every morning, and I plan on throwing away any shoes that gets dog poop on them- these I won't miss. (I could try and wash them, but I'm pretty sure they'd float.)

I have one pair of Crocs that I use for walking around outside when the grass is wet. Just hose them off to clean. I agree they are ugliest things ever! And not very practical for real gardening, in my opinion. I need old sneakers for that.

ReplyDeleteOh Beryl! I so HATE crocs!!! Second only to Rainbows! LOL I can't imagine running in them! I guess I won't be finding out any time soon! Hugs to you! ~Serene
ReplyDeleteSanda - Crocs are good for when it's wet. If you wear them for very long, your feet sweat so much they are just as wet on the inside as the rain, outside.

ReplyDeleteThe image of people running in Crocs is now seared into my brain. I can't decide if it's hilarious or horrifying! I agree that Crocs are probably best saved for dog-walking on wet grass (though cute rubber rain boots work just as well!)
ReplyDeleteHey Anne - I wish I had purchased the Liberty for Target cute rain boots. I haven't been tempted since, but think it's about time I let go of the Liberty and just bought a nice pair. Oklahoma storms aren't getting any drier!
ReplyDeleteBeryl - I've yet to experience Crocs. I gather they do make some almost cute shoes, but of course it's the ugly ones they are famous for. I can't imagine jogging in them on the street, but perhaps they do work on a treadmill...I would have thought that would be really hard on the feet, though; I wouldn't recommend it. They do sound practical for wet weather & dog walking though!
